  • Little walk to Ackerle

    Starting at the head of the valley you cross the bridge and follow the mark n. 12, passing the farm Schlosserhof. At the information board to the “Percorso del Bue” follow the Talblickweg to the right and reach the Ackerle. At the parking of the malga Stumpfalm, follow the road at the right back to the starting point. At nice weather it’s a very sunny walk, especially in the afternoon.

  • Across ancient farms and hamlets

    Val Casies Valley/S. Maddalena – From the parish church in S. Maddalena you go up to Lanzberg (1470m; refreshment stop). You continue along the path Talblickweg to ’’Weißberg’’, passing the ancient hamlet of “Huiben” and the “Huber” farms, then you go across the ski slope to the “Hackler” farms and you follow the path down to the head of the valley. From there you cross the bridge and you follow the old Val Casies Valley road passing the farms of “Keil” and “Unterhaberer”. There you turn left and you move on to the farms of “Oberhaberer” and “Kleinster” and down to the farms of “Waldsamer” (smallest cheese diary in South Tyrol), “Kuin” and “Madleiten”. Arrived, you go straight ahead to the farm “Regiohof” (farm shop) and you continue left to the “Kradorfer” farms. Above the “Kradorfer” farm you go back to the starting point following the ’’Mühlweg’’ at the right.

  • The small, promising walk

    From the end of the valley in S. Maddalena/Val Casies Valley (1460m), follow the signposting no. 49, and pass the cross-country ski track until you see the Moosalm (1477m, refreshment stop) on your right.  At the turnery you follow the road on your left uphill towards the Hackler farms. Before reaching the highest point, you can admire the view over the head of the Val Casies Valley and the summits of the mountains at a small vantage point. If you continue down the road between the farms, you will reach the starting point after about 15 minutes.

  • Trough the Val Casies Valley

    From the head of the Val Casies Valley in S. Maddalena (1460m) you hike over the stream, then uphill towards the Haberer farms and on the old Val Casies Valley road out of the valley towards Monguelfo. Below the Weckerlerhof, follow the Reflection Trail on the left. At the hamlet of Kapairen, shortly before the village entrance of S. Martino, you cross the main road and continue along the Val Casies Valley stream over the Steinegge to Colle. Always following the Talblickweg, after about 5 km you reach meadows and after the last kilometers the village centre of Tesido. From there you can return to the starting point by bus. This hike is ideal for exploring the beautiful Val Casies Valley. Of course, the track can also be splitted and managed in several stages.

  • A cozy winter walk

    Val Casies Valley/S. Martino – From the tourist office in S. Martino you walk along the main street, passing the football ground, and along the path „Besinnungsweg“. After the hamlet of “Kapairen“ you cross the bridge and you continue on the right side in direction of the village centre. Passing the hamlet “Selbenbach“ you cross another bridge and follow the street till the electronic central. Along a country road you reach the inns of “Kircherwirt“ (refreshment stop) and Kahnwirt (refreshment stop), passing the parish church and you arrive finally back to the starting point.

  • Hamlets excursion

    You start at the tourist office and walk along the Val Casies Valley road on the pavement to the chapel “Marakirchl” and turn left to the Hotel Waldruhe (refreshments available) in the hamlet Preindl. A highlight there is the magnificent view at the mountain Seekofel (2810m) in southwestern direction. The path leads along passing the farms Hirberhof, Rauterhof and Mudlerhof to the main road and past the Bar-Bistro Martins (refreshments available). After crossing the main road, continue straight ahead, and after about 200m of asphalt road, follow the path along the Pidig stream, cross it to the left passing the wooden bridge and walk always accompanied by the stream past the Örler, Galler and Blasler – farms. A wooden bridge leads back to the main road and from there back to the starting point. Alternatively, you can extend the round by following the road into the valley to the hamlet of Kapaiern. At the right hand side of the shrine to the Reflection Path you cross once again the Val Casies Valley stream to return to S. Martino.

  • To the malghe Gallfallalm

    Arrival by car to S. Martino or to the farm Karbacher Hof in S. Martino (1425m). In S. Martino you go from the tourist office along the Val Casies Valley road on the pavement to the chapel “Marakirchl” and cross the road to the farm Örlerhof. Follow the road to the right past the farm to the farm Karbacherhof (refreshment stop, 1440m). Shortly after the farm, the paved road ends with a barrier, from where the 3 km hike begins to the farms Gallfallalm. To arriving there you follow the trail markes No. 36 and No. 42. After about half an hour you reach a water baisin and a bit later the malga Leachalm (1618m). From there the trail climbs slightly, but only briefly, because after about 20 minutes you already reach the final destination, the malga Gallfallalm at 1667m (no refreshments available).

  • Excursion among traditional farms

    From the parish church St. Nicholas, follow the road past authentic trditional farms to Colle di Sopra before descending down to Colle di Dentro. Cross the main street at the Herz – Jesu – Chapel, continue straight ahead, pass the Hotel Tyrol (refreshment stop), cross the Val Casies Valley stream and turn right. Past the farms Kohler and Schuier you walk forward to the Hotel Stoll (refreshment stop). There you turn right and and reach the starting point passing the crossroad and walking along the Via San Nicoló street back to the parish church.

  • Excursion on the sunny side

    From the Hotel Stoll in Planca di Sotto you walk along the old Val Casies Valley route inward up to the farms Schuier and Kohler. At the first crossroad turn left and cross the Val Casies Valley stream to reach the hamlet of Wiesen (Hotel Tyrol, refreshment stop). After crossing the main road you can see on the left road the famous Sacred Heart Chapel. Now the path rises a bit and leads through the forest to Colle di Sopra. On the way there, you will pass traditional farms and finally arrive at the parish church of St. Nicholas. If you are enthusiastic about the landscape, you can extend your hike by walking past the Turmhotel Gschwendt (refreshment stop) to the left and at the next crossroad straight on to the direction of the hamlet of Henzing. A dirt road leads down to the Restaurant-Pizzeria Binta Pub (refreshments stop). From there follow the main road for a few meters until you turn right at the next intersection and continue straight to the hamlet of Durnwald, past the restaurant Durnwald (refreshment stop). At the Maria Hilf chapel turn left, pass the Hotel Waldheim (refreshment stop) and return to the starting point.

  • Panoramic excursion with view to the dolomites

    Val Casies Valley/Colle – The excursion starts at the parish church in Colle, in direction of the hamlet Schindelhoz. At first you follow the marking n. 51+54. The way leads uphill to a wayside cross, where you take the right for arriving at the chaple in Schindelholz (1478m). From there you hold to the left and follow the markings n. 21A and n. 55 until the hamlet „Hölzl“, where you descend to „Brückenwirt“ in Prati di Tesido. There you can take the bus to return to Colle di Fuori, where you cross the street and ascending for the parish church, you reach the starting point.

  • Hamlets excursion

    Tesido – From the Tourist Office in Tesido you walk up the steep street at the right passing the garage and the farm Marenklhof until you arrive at the board with the inscription „Seppila“ (marking n. 38B). There you hold the left following the asphalt street until the hamlet „Haspa“ (1360m). At the same route you return until you arrive to a tight left turn with the marking n. 21A, where you turn right and keep walking to the first crossroad. From there you go uphill again, passing an old mill and then along the asphalt street straight ahead to the edge of the wood. In big turns, across meadows and fields, passing ancient farms and with a marvelous view to the Dolomites, you reach a crossroad (1498m), where you turn left. Along the mountain road with the marking n. 31 and 56 you walk down the hamlet „Guggenberg“ to the Via Riva di Sotto street. There you turn left, passing the Hotel Alpen Tesitin and reach again the starting point.

  • Towards the Dolomites

    From the Tourist Office turn right on the paved road in the direction of the parish church, from there follow the road further west to the Hotel Alpen Tesitin. Here you turn on the path with the mark no. 21 and stay there until the Feichter Hof (1377m). You cross narrow forest strips, and pass traditional farms on wide meadows and fields. At the edge of the forest you will find an area with a magnificent view over a large part of the Alta Pusteria Valley and the majestic Dolomites in the background.

  • Excurions from Monguelfo at the Via Romana

    From the parking at the middle school in Monguelfo (1087m) you walk in directon of the Castle Welsperg and pass the farm. You turn right and follow the signs “Eggerberg/Villabassa” or the marking no. 45. After about an hour of walk you reach the highest and most beautiful point of the hike, the so-called lookout tower (1460m), which gives you a view over the Val Pusteria Valley and the eastern Dolomites. Before going downhill, turn right again and at the small electronical station. In leisurely bends, you hike down the Eggerberg, past the church Mooskirche and the craftspeople area. Follow the road until you reach the parish church of Villabassa on the “Von-Kurz-Straße”. There you turn right over the bridge to get to the bus stop, from where you can take the bus back to Monguelfo.

  • From Novale to Monguelfo

    Monguelfo – From the Tourist Office in Monguelfo (1087m) you walk along the Via Stazione street to the exit of the village. 50 m after the underpass you turn right to arrive to a crossroad with the indication sign „Novale/Ried“, where you turn right again. Going along the street you reach a bridge with the sign „Lettnerhof“. From here you hold on to the marking n. 39, who points to a forest on the right. Then you follow the route until you arrive at the farm Gailerhof. From there you can walk back to the centre of Monguelfo.

  • The Castle circuit

    From the Tourist Office in Monguelfo (1087m), go through the village centre, past the music pavilion/main square on the right and straight ahead to the bridge that crosses the Val Casies Valley stream. There you follow the sign “Grande giro del castello” on the old Val Casies Valley road in an easterly direction. After about 50 minutes of walk you turn right to cross a narrow wooden bridge. After this bridge hold on to the left and then go uphill until you meet the old castle path after a long loop. From here you hike slightly downhill through the forest, past the Castle Welsperg and then, after passing the middle school, back to the starting point.

  • Along the river bank to the hamlet of Salla

    From the Tourist Office in Monguelfo (1087m) follow the Via Stazione street, cross the bridge and follow the sign for the cycle track in direction of Valdaora. After a few meters, turn right before the underbridge to get onto the cycle path. On this route you pass the new bypass, the riding stables and the Val Pusteria Valley railway line and get to the reservoir of Valdaora. After about 5 km, at the end of the reservoir, turn left at the road and continue to the bend in front of the cemetery of Valdaora di Sopra. At the intersection, turn left again and follow the sign no. 39. Across wide meadows, fields and forests, you reach the hamlet of Salla (1239m), where a magnificent panorama invites you to take some pictures. To get back to Monguelfo, follow the trail no. 39, which continues for about 2,5 km through the forest and then on to Monguelfo.

  • Winter walk at the Via Panoramica street

    From the tourist office in Monguelfo you go through the village centre before you cross the street at the fire station in the area of the cross road to the Val Casies Valley road. Above the cross road you reach the Via Panoramica street. From there you walk past the farms at the sunny side of Monguelfo to the “Samwald” in Tesido. At the pavement along the Kreuzbichl and the swimming pool you get back to Monguelfo. You can make the walk also in the opposite direction, starting from Tesido.
